Recently I received the news that I’m likely going to need to use a cane for the foreseeable future, so naturally I’ve been thinking a lot about acquired disabilities, and trying to project all of the related stress and pain onto Jon. It’s extremely cathartic, getting to visualize him going through the same thing. So, yeah. To any fellow cane users or disabled folk out there, here’s to us💙

Listening to 160 to try and pick up on the soundscape of the safehouse in the snippets of the three weeks that we get and - 

Before Martin goes out to phone Basira, the background is quiet. When he comes back, you can hear a fire in the background. 

Now, granted that Jon was unpacking when they had their conversation before Martin left, it’s likely that that conversation was in the bedroom and the following one was in the main area of the safehouse, but I’m just… Weirdly really charmed by the fact that we can read between the subtle clues and say “Within the show itself, we have proof of a scene where Jon waits for Martin to come back, and lights the fireplace while he’s gone.” 

It’s just a startlingly domestic image. It’s so normal and that’s what’s making it so special, I think, because we don’t get these little shots of normalcy too often in this show so you learn to covet them. It’s so cosy, too, this little home they’re finally getting to have to themselves after so long kept apart, lit warmly by firelight that will reflect off their faces and illuminate the room against the chill of the Scottish autumn. He’s preparing this scene for himself, but also as a small act of comfort for when Martin returns from the cold outside, so they can sit together in front of it.
